What IT tools is the Site Manager using today in the evolving technology environment?

Recording progress of the Works, defective works, unsafe working practices has progressed over the years from handheld paper and pen records, to photographs and Dictaphones and more recently the site manager uses an Ipad with immediate access to the design information database to record the progress of the Works, defects etc and Drones are used for recording overall high level progress of the Works.

What do you think will be next for the IT evolution into everyday construction life?

I think one of the huge steps forward will be through the use of the data pool that currently exists in most contracting and consulting businesses. Many are now starting to use this for powerful one page documents to show positions on current status and future trends including key issues such as material availability.
Many SME's are being set up to provide this level of expertise to businesses without a large R & D budget or understanding of the potential grants and Government allowances and funding.

Many are adopting Field360 for on site QA and defects control, including for offsite manufacturing.
