The use of 3D graphical software such as Synchro has helped from a planning / programming perspective hugely. The traditional way of checking 2d drawings to produce a programme has now been superseded / improved by 3D software, with improved visual drivethru of the sequence for elements to be installed, especially MEP services through basements and specific pinch points.

Next coupling this with the product data of the items to be installed, the ease of how each subcontractor must have the individual product details / 3d BIM data / image created to, correct me if wrong, select and insert into their model.

Followed by the merging of the various subcontractor models into an overall BIM model which contains all product details for ease of reference, maintenance, replacement, etc.

Agree with Tom this is a long journey which has only really begun in the last 5 years or so. To answer clearly, yes it has improved construction through all aspects....design, procurement, integration, installation and maintenance.
