Hi Richard I felt the same way as Steve and wasn't very aware of this terminology. Having looked at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cradle-to-cradle_design I see that the whole lifecycle we speak of often in construction is within this terminology but not as the complete circle C2C appears to envisage. Therefore my view is that the industry is taking more notice of whole lifecycle though we still have someway to go, but I note quite a few developments on using the Passivhaus approach in commercial buildings is growing. The challenge of net zero has someway to go yet. Personally I remain sceptical of carbon offsets as they don't really seem in my view to encourage the development of truly low carbon products. Our biggest challenge remains the production of cement and steel which are key products across the whole built environment. So to answer your question I feel we need to get these tangible issues resolved to make real progress. Legislation can be a help look at the change over to LED lighting and the now competitive prices of those type of light sources compared with a few years ago. It can be done but needs leadership.
