  • Principal Estimator - Civil Engineering

    <p>The main purpose of this role is to lead all aspects of estimate preparation including accurate quantification using standard methods of measurement, bottom up estimating using industry & company production norms, enquiry preparation, quotation analysis and the preparation of commercial submission documentation. This may include peer reviews of tenders.</p><p> </p><p>The Principal Estimator will have extensive experience in the construction industry and will be able to offer strong guidance to the bid team on the best solutions/ methods for a variety of projects.  Principal Estimators are capable of presenting and explaining estimates in a clear and concise manner whilst identifying risks and opportunities within the bids. The Principal Estimator will be responsible for handing over successful tenders to the delivery team in a manner that enables the team to understand the commercial submission, tender allowances, risks and opportunities. </p><p> </p><p>To succeed in this role we would expect you to be able to demonstrate:</p><ul><li>Proven successful estimating experience in engineering and construction, including undertaking role of Senior Estimator or above</li><li>Significant site experience</li><li>Extensive variety in types of work priced, including experience of both public sector and private sector clients</li><li>Marine & transportation experience would be particularly desirable, as would previous experience in a Joint Venture (JV) environment</li><li>Well versed in Target Cost, Fixed Price and Re-measurable Contracts</li><li>Sound working knowledge of Candy, Excel and Primavera</li></ul><p> </p><p> </p><p>At Murphy, we believe our people are our greatest asset, which is why they are at the heart of our company and everything we do.</p><p>The diversity of individuals and skills we require is simply huge and we need a large workforce of varied skills to match the size and complexity of our projects.</p><p>With such a range of projects and professions, Murphy is the ideal place to develop your career.
