Stuttgart–Ulm Railway Project - Construction work at its finest, 08052022
The future Stuttgart main station is the primary structure of the infrastructure project Stuttgart 21. The station's roof, designed by ingenhoven associates, consists of 28 chalice-shaped pillars – a concrete shell design that has never been built before. Up to 350 metric tons of steel and 685 cubic metres of concrete are needed for one chalice pillar with a diameter of 32 metres. Large glass domes on 23 of the chalice pillars provide daylight in the platform hall.
