The Building Act 1984 set up a simple way of regulating building in England (and, at the time, in Wales). This new system was explained by a manual, the "Manual to the Building Regulations". The old manual is now out of date. This current manual (attached) replaces previous manuals in England Dame Judith Hackitt led the Independent Review of Building Regulations & Fire Safety following the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
