Any tips for getting super accurate construction takeoffs?

I’ve been in construction for a bit, but construction takeoff is still something I’m trying to get better at. I’ll be honest I’ve had a few projects where my numbers were way off and that turned into some awkward conversations later on. Lately, I’ve been trying to slow down, double-check everything and use better tools instead of just rushing through the plans. It’s helped but I feel like there’s still a lot of room to improve. How do you all keep your takeoffs as accurate as possible? Do you follow a certain process, use specific software or just rely on years of experience? Would love to hear what’s worked for you.
