Should all holders of the Globally respected CEng MICE have Civil Engineering Knowledge

We are a self-governing body of professional Civil Engineers. This is a critical requirement to maintain a professional Globally acknowledged “Gold Standard” in Civil Engineering to allow CEng MICE to be conferred only on those applicants who meet the required standard in Civil Engineering attributes.
Civil Engineers have worked hard for decades to achieve this globally respected “Gold Standard” of CEng MICE. Clients understand what this means and are in no doubt about the calibre of professional Civil Engineer they are employing without having to trawl through numerous CV’s.
Why does the ICE want to expose our professional standards by conferring CEng MICE to those who do not meet this standard because of their lack of civil engineering knowledge and experience.
Altering / diluting our stringent CPR requirements for non-Civil Engineers can only impact on our hard won “Gold Standard” and will cause confusion.
The Director General of the ICE has gone on record stating: -   “Since March 2021 the Trustees Board has facilitated two widely promoted on line discussions, has briefed the UK Regional Affairs Committee, the Civil Engineers Employers Training Group, regional committees and the committees of devolved nations. This coupled with NCE articles both for and against the Chartered Infrastructure Engineer protected title including publication of your own letters, has allowed the issue to be both socialised and debated by the membership, both within the UK and internationally”
The membership themselves should decide if the issue has actually been socialised and debated sufficiently among the members. A formal vote is required to confirm the Director Generals Statement.
The ICE Director of Membership has stated with respect to Chartered Infrastructure Engineers: -   “They do not aspire to be Civil Engineers; they do not need basic Civil Engineering Knowledge”
If this is the case this specific statement should exclude them from CEng MICE as they cannot meet the “Gold Standard” which we have worked so hard to achieve and most importantly maintain.
Should the ICE allow Chartered Infrastructure Engineers the title CEng MICE even if they do not identify as Civil Engineers and do not have the knowledge or experience in Civil Engineering.
Our members with IEng MICE will probably have greater relevant Civil Engineering knowledge and experience than most Chartered Infrastructure Engineers.

In conclusion, based on the above, should Chartered Infrastructure Engineers be conferred with the prestigious CEng MICE. YES or NO
